The 6th Type of God-Given Rest: Visionary Rest

29: Finding A New Norm: Making the Most of Your Marriage and Family Life In Quarantine

How are things going with your marriage and family since you’ve been in quarantine?  Have you gotten into a good flow or do things still feel chaotic? I wanted to bring Jon back on the podcast for this special episode and I know many of you will be excited because you have been asking for him!

The good news is that he is back and we are chatting about how we are learning to co-exist with four pets and three kids, all while working from home TOGETHER.

Today we are in uncharted territory.  This is a time that most of us have never experienced.  In 1918, people had to deal with the Spanish Flu, but that was a time when technology didn’t exist.  People weren’t constantly surrounded by the negativity and stress that can come from being constantly “on”.  As much as you can try, it’s hard to avoid the news, text messages, emails and social media posts. It’s coming from everywhere right now!

Today’s episode will be a real, raw, and unscripted episode where we are sharing our own experiences, mistakes and talking about what works and what doesn’t.  We will be sharing tips and tricks on finding a new norm and how to create structure for every member of your family.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why knowing ‘everything’ can become overwhelming
  • How to look for and count your blessings during a time of crisis
  • The reason headphones are saving my marriage right now
  • The importance of putting structure around your school and work-at-home setup
  • Why a lockdown is the perfect time to connect with your spouse

Working from home doesn’t mean working non-stop, nor do I think you should binge Netflix all day either!  The truth is, you’ve been given the gift of time. How can you make the most of it? When this is over, you will want to look back and see where you made progress in your life– maybe it was with your kids, your marriage, your finances,  or your work, but the important thing is you took this time and used it wisely.

Stay sane, stay happy and stay healthy!

See you here next week!    XO,
Amy
